Philanthropy

I have been the philanthropic co-chair along with Marcia Terry for several years. We take orders for the lovely plants, hanging baskets and deck pots from the membership (many of whom take orders from friends and neighbors) and Jackson's Greenhouse fills the orders and delivers same to a members home where members then pick them up and deliver them to their customers. We have been realizing around $1500. from this project, with the proceeds going to Children's Miracle Network and/or PanHellenic scholarships. I Received my AA Degree from St. Joseph, Mo Junior College (Now Missouri Western) and went on to Baker, receiving my BA in 1954. Met my husband at Baker, we married May 23, 1954, have three grown daughters, six grandsons and two granddaughters, one of which has our great grandson, 8 years old. We have lived in Goodland, KS, Philadelphia, PA, Detroit, MI, Des Moines, IA, Wichita, KS, Austin, TX, and chose Topeka to be our retirement home, having begun married life here. I have been a busy homemaker, and my husband retired from banking in 1996.
